While fans of K-pop group BTS may be heartbroken following the announcement that the group will be taking a temporary break, they can rest assured that their idols will continue to produce music for them.
Most recently, the group’s youngest member, Jungkook, teased a collaboration with American singer Charlie Puth.
The 31-year-old Puth posted a tongue-in-cheek TikTok on Friday (Jun 17), featuring the 24-year-old idol singing snippets of their new single Left And Right.
In the TikTok, Puth fed Jungkook a few lines to sing, asking him “what it would sound like” when he sings it. Jungkook gleefully obliged as well, flaunting the pipes which propelled him, with the rest of BTS, to global stardom.
Puth also offered some voice direction, asking him to sing to the left and right of the microphone – no prizes for guessing why, of course. Here, Jungkook co-operates by hopping from one side to the other.
The pair then said “Put it all together and it sounds like this”, before Jungkook’s vocals play back with music and additional vocal effects. Puth drummed up excitement for the track to end off the video, saying: “This is going to be crazy.”
At the time of writing, the TikTok had received 7.4 million views and 2 million likes in a little more than seven hours.
It also came with a call to both Puthinators (as in, Puth’s fans) and ARMYs alike to pre-save the song.
Here’s the catch, though: If the song gets 500,000 pre-saves, Puth has promised to release it on Jun 24.
Judging by the reception that the TikTok received thus far and the comments pointing out Jungkook’s charm and vocals, we think the target is more than easily attainable.
Jungkook has admitted to being a fan of Puth for a long time, performing a duet of We Don’t Talk Anymore with him at the 2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards.
